Are you interested in how chemistry is involved in medicine and health? Have you wondered what the difference is between drugs and vitamins? Interested in a chemistry class that requires relatively low amounts of math? Not interested in having to stand in a lab for hours at a time you’d rather be doing something else?
If that describes you, then Chemistry with Heath Applications (SC251N and SC252N) is the class for you! Calvary University is starting its first completely online science class with a lab! That’s right, even the lab is online! When you register for the course, you obtain a lab kit to use at home on your schedule. The lectures, textbook, homework, and lab experiments are all accessed online. Interested? Sign up for SC251N and SC252N during cycle 2!

The science faculty at Calvary University (CU) and Blue Ridge Christian School (BRCS) are now collaborating in a dual enrollment program so BRCS students can take CU science courses for college credit. CU science faculty organize the class and lab, prepare, give, and record lectures, and lead the CU on-campus lab sections. BRCS science faculty monitor and assist the BRCS students as they listen to the recorded lectures and complete the lab experiments on their campus.
This approach is currently being used for the Survey of Biological Science class and is working well. It is likely this will be expanded to other courses in the future. In addition, CU hopes to initiate agreements with other Christian high schools in the future.
The dual enrollment program allows high school students to get a head start on college. It can help them save time and money when they enter college. CU benefits too as enrollment increases. It’s a win-win situation for all involved!
